Apples, Pumpkins, and Dogwood Blossoms
It is quickly becoming my favorite time of year. Cool, crisp mornings, jewel tone fire colors in the foliage, and lots of baking, artsy-fartsy crafty stuff on store shelves. This is the time of year that I channel my inner Martha Stewart the most and start planning fall and winter crafts, activities, and baking.....and I usually get all my Great Intentions Lists done just before I run out of steam and the procrastination kicks in. I start out with the grandious plan to start baking cake layers and cookies now, freeze them, and then pull them and decorate as needed. My holiday season is no different than anybody else's....it is nothing short of SLAMMED. Being an event coordinator, it generally means I'm working when everyone else is playing, being that everybody is generally "playing" at one of my events. Therefore, time management is crucial. And. Ladies and Gentlemen. I TOTALLY suck at it! Complete FAILURE in this department when it comes to stuff I like to do for myself. My favorite thing to do is make stuff for other people and give it to them. For instance. My Sainted Daddy always requests a MFS German Chocolate Cake for whatever occasion he can justify celebrating. (MFS = Made From Scratch). How often does Pops get said cake??? Rarely. If Ever. Between 3 jobs and raising a 4 year old, I have no time to sleep, let alone turn my kitchen back into the bakery it once was, and I hate it. It's all about priorities and I should just rearrange my priority list, right? Or figure out a way to make money with said items and replace one of three said jobs with it, right? Yeah. Sure. In some alternate, parallel universe, maybe. So, I'd like to hear how y'all manage your holiday tasks? Halloween to New Years. Let's hear it, folks and HAPPY FALL, Y'ALL!
