It's Friday. Of a short work week, and I haven't gotten very much accomplished. At. all. Except for my morning routine, I can't seem to focus longer than 5 minutes on ANYTHING. And the only thing THAT accomplishes for me is bettering my ability to stay one step ahead of my 4 year old. I am not a big believer in ADD or ADHD. Yes, the conditions do exist, but I firmly believe that both conditions are over-diagnosed and I will never be convinced otherwise. I do not have either of these. My CHILD does not have either of these. She is a well-mannered, well-behaved little girl and I am very proud that despite our differences, her Father and I have been successful thus-far in raising her that way. I mean, how many 4 year olds can sit still through an hour long "grown-up meeting" with their parents without causing a distraction of some sort? Mine can. And does. Anyway, I digress. As I was saying, no one in my family suffers from ADD or ADHD. Period. Our family's problems lie in the lack of good raising.
However...we DO have tendencies towards A.D.O.S.S. or, ATTENTION DEFICIT "OOH! SOMETHING SHINY!" We have short attention spans for most things, but can concentrate and be extremely productive when we actually reign ourselves in to do so. You know, sitting down at your desk with a specific project or task in mind, only to lose that thought the minute your eyes meet the computer screen or the phone rings or the boss summons you...etc. Yeah. That's been me all week. So, I turn my creativity to creating playlists, making a most-likely-never-to-be-completed arts and crafts project list, writing a blog, or of course, Facebook.
Surely, I am NOT the only one afflicted with A.D.O.S.S....do you have moments, hours, days, weeks, months like these? I'd love to hear about them, so please share, and maybe together we can figure out a way to beat A.D.O.S.S.
